Hands on for more than a century

Emmett was founded by John G Emmett who was as hands on as you could get, being a carpenter, joiner and builder.

Major projects from 1908 to 1950 include: St Augustine’s Church in Unley; Holden Manufacturing Plant in Woodville.

1950 - 1970

John hands over the reins to son Ray who consolidated Emmett’s activities in major contracting.

Major projects from 1950 to 1970 include: North Terrace House in Hackney, Elizabeth City Centre, Elizabeth.

1970 - 1980

Ray passes the baton over to his son Andrew who puts his stamp on the business by focusing on design and construct projects and property development.

Major projects from 1970 to 1990 include: Oxford Corner Retail Development in Unley, David Jones Warehouse in Adelaide, Apartment Complex in Noosa.

1980 - 1990

Andrew steers Emmett into the world of high-quality industrial and commercial property development.

Numerous developments in Regency Park, Westside Plaza Shopping Centre in Broken Hill, the Metro Shopping Centre on Unley Road, Hyde Park.

1990 - 2000

A decade dominated by joint ventures for Emmett while Andrew successfully readjusts the business to a new economic climate following the excesses of the 80’s and recession that followed.

Numerous industrial projects throughout Wingfield, Edwardstown & Melrose Park.

2000 - 2010

Emmett continues to experience success in both the development and construction sides of the business (despite the GFC). In 2005, Andrew hands the reins to his two sons, Nick and Tom, who had the privilege of being in charge of Emmett in its centenary year.
